G.W and Associates Ltd have an outstanding relationship with Corrosion Control International (CCI), manufacturers of the Retrowrap product. There are six models of the Retrowrap system namely:-
The models most used in Trinidad are the Retrowrap HD and SL with such clients as BP Trinidad and Tobago, Repsol, Petrotrin, Petrotrin Trinmar SBU.
How is Retrowrap Made?Retrowrap material is a multi layer constructed fabric consisting of an outer urethane coating, polyamide reinforcing skrim, and a polyester felt inner layer. All three layers are simultaneously bonded together to form a monocoque fabric. This unique construction can be varied by adding or reducing the thickness of the coatings or impact and abrasion resistance and puncture strength to suit the application for which the Retrowrap system is to be used. How Does Retrowrap Work?Absorbent polyester felt is impregnated with a water repellent thixotropic gel containing corrosion inhibitors or biocidel treatments. Elastomeric properties in fabric allow Retrowrap to be stretched around structure for a snug fit to ensure that it is water & air tight. Flange Closure system is designed for easy field installation and removal for routine inspection. It will accommodate all fabric thicknesses. Once Installed, Corrosion inhibitors commence the pacification process to neutralize & maintain surface contaminants to an inert state. Any water is expelled during installation causing the gel to flow and fill surface irregularities.
Retrowrap HD (Heavy - Duty)More abrasion and impact resistant, Retrowrap HD is the heavy-duty version that provides greater protection to offshore oil and gas risers or inshore applications subject to external mechanical damage. As with Retrowrap, installation has been reduced to its simplest, fastest form, saving hours of diver and rigging time.
Retrowrap SL (Slim Line)Retrowrap SL is designed to accomodate the offshore conductore connector industry, where sever environmental conditions dictate a need for superior performance with fast and simple installation. As testimonial, Retrorap SL has been selected for all phases to date on the world's toughest project, the "Hibernia." Manufactured with the same monocoque fabric as Retrowrap, the SL utilizes a unique mortise and tenon closure, thus eliminating flnages and allowing for easy passage through guide tubes. When needed, the diametric increase at joint areas can be reduced to .39" (10mm). Using our specially designed robust closure tools, installation can be accomplished in less than five minutes. As this is well inside the connector "makeup time" it removes thened for a separate installation station, therefore, saving time and money.
LaywrapLaywrap overcomes the difficulties associated with carrying out field joint operations on dissimilar coatings such as EPDM/PE or PE/FBE, which are typical problems associated with connecting factory coated risers to filed coated flow lines via a "dogleg" assembly. Laywrap provides an ultrafast alternative field joint coating solution at the lay barge tie-in coating station or may be applied subsea by divers, when used as a coating repair method. Installation topside, underwater or in a pipeline trench is carried out with air or hydraulically operated tools, driving a reuseable closure caliper. Closure around the joint is via a thermally formed flange, designed to follow filed joint contours. Typical installation times for pipe diameters of 8" (200mm) to 24" (610mm) are 6 minutes per joint. Laywrap is derived from Retrowrap's proven design. It utilizes a 4.5 mm or 6.5 mm multi-layer, nylon reinforced fabric impregnated with a high temperature 250°F (120° C) resistant, environmentally safe, corrosion inhibiting gel. Features:
